Patricia Aho was appointed as Deputy Commissioner to the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection in February 2010.

Ms. Aho’s professional experience includes more than 25 years of vigorous advocacy work on behalf of the business community. She holds a Law Degree from Western New England College and a Sociology Degree from Nasson College. Her professional career has focused largely on legislative, regulatory and administrative matters primarily concerning environmental issues. She has served as the environmental attorney for the Maine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Executive Director of the Maine Petroleum Association where she made key contributions related to state and federal oil spill prevention and remediation, crisis preparation and training. As Vice President of Maine Oil Dealers Association she worked to establish the Convenience Store Council of Maine where she was responsible for legislative, regulatory advocacy and policy development. Just prior to her appointment at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection Ms. Aho was counsel with Pierce Atwood, LLP. During her tenure there, she implemented successful strategies for clients related to policy development, drafting laws and rules, coalition building and business outreach.

Ms Aho has been honored as a past recipient of the prestigious Athena Award in recognition of professional excellence, community service and leadership skills for her efforts on behalf of the Kennebec County Chamber of Commerce business advocacy.

Pattie’s has actively served her community in variety of capacities; from municipal Selectman in the Town of Boothbay Harbor, the Board of Appeals in the Town of Newcastle and on the Board of Directors for the Boothbay Region Land Trust and Miles Health Care, Inc. Ms. Aho is a native of Boothbay Harbor and lives in Newcastle with her husband Ron.
